NASA HQ Programmatic Update
Abstract
[Presented at AAS-247 Special Session "NASA's Habitable Worlds Observatory"] NASA is preparing for the Habitable Worlds Observatory, an astrophysics flagship mission concept recommended by the 2020 Decadal Survey on Astronomy and Astrophysics. The Habitable Worlds Observatory will be a large-aperture ultraviolet/optical/infrared space telescope with a powerful suite of instruments for enabling transformative science across nearly all of astrophysics, including being the first observatory designed with the capability of searching for signs of life on terrestrial planets orbiting in the habitable zones of nearby stars. This talk will provide a programmatic update from NASA Headquarters on the big-picture plans and current status of progress towards realizing the Habitable Worlds Observatory.
