ISCO Technical Report: The Burden of the Unasked Question and Relational Erosion
Abstract
This report examines the behavioral dynamics of "Quiet Care" as observed in the Jamie & Alex dyad (Chapter 8). The analysis isolates the "Line of the Psychic Reader" as a mechanism of relational erosion, where the suppression of direct inquiry—driven by the fear of being labeled "naggy" or "clingy"—mutates genuine concern into interactional distance. We deconstruct the "Burden of the Unasked Question," a cognitive load that exhausts the observer while leaving the subject feeling unseen. The report identifies the specific failure mode wherein the "Line of Integrity" (the duty to care) is sacrificed for the "Line of Perception" (the desire to appear low-maintenance), and proposes the "Low-Pressure Inquiry" as the structural restorative.
