ISCO Technical Report: The Reinforcement Loop and Relational Self-Sabotage
Abstract
This report isolates and analyzes the mechanism of "Relational Self-Sabotage" as observed in the "Alex & Jamie" case study within the ISCO project. The study centers on the "Silence Trap," a self-perpetuating behavioral cycle where the subject (Alex) suppresses authentic need to secure attachment, only to be positively reinforced for this suppression by the partner (Jamie). We examine the specific "Reinforcement Loop" wherein praise for being "undemanding" acts as a psychological cement, sealing the subject into an inauthentic role. Our findings demonstrate that this dynamic creates a "Zero-Friction Environment" that is seductive to the partner but metabolically unsustainable for the subject. This sustainability gap inevitably leads to the collapse of the relational structure when the cost of silence exceeds the subject's emotional capacity. We identify the specific neuro-cognitive pathways that misinterpret "suppression" as "connection," leading subjects to actively participate in their own erasure.
