Mechanism of Concessional Compliance
Abstract
This report delineates the structural fragility introduced into interpersonal dynamics through "Concessional Compliance," a process where one party consistently overrides authentic preferences to secure perceived relational harmony. Analyzing the interaction between subjects Alex and Jamie, the research identifies "Micro-Concessions"—such as feigning dietary preferences or social endurance—as cumulative "acts of self-betrayal" rather than benign compromises. The study demonstrates that while these concessions purchase short-term approval, they accrue an insurmountable "Internal Debt" that ultimately triggers a catastrophic "Identity Crisis" and relational liquidation. The findings suggest that the suppression of "micro-truths" to avoid "micro-frictions" creates a "Time Bomb" effect, ensuring that the eventual conflict is fueled not by the immediate stimulus, but by the totality of the suppressed self.
