Abstract
Thirumurugatruppadai is an ancient work of significant importance in Tamil Sangam literature and serves as a historical document. Each of the six abodes of Murugan mentioned in it exhibits unique characteristics and makes distinct social and spiritual contributions. This study focuses on the special features of the six abodes, examining their fundamental characteristics, structure, social services, and lifestyle attributes. Murugan's six abodes are symbols of the devotional tradition and culture of the Tamils. This work not only portrays Murugan but also showcases the poetic genius of Nakkirar, who blended Sangam-era life with mythological narratives. Each abode possesses a unique spiritual essence due to its distinctive features. It plays a role in promoting social welfare and unity. It holds historical value, reflecting heroic qualities and achievements. It collectively represents the culture, traditions, and divine worship practices of Tamil Nadu. Thus, this indicates that the six abodes are not only integral to the Thirumurugatruppadai tradition but also serve as foundational structures of the social and cultural fabric.
