Abstract
The Nalayira Divya Prabandham is one of the Vaishnavite religious literary works that emerged during the Bhakti literature period. The hymns composed by the twelve Alvars are known as the Nalayira Divya Prabandham. Among the twelve Alvars, Andal Nachiyar is the only female Alvar. Andal Nachiyar is worshipped by all as the Alvar who composed the Tiruppavai and Nachiyar Tirumozhi, and as the divine mother who attained union with Lord Vishnu through her intense devotion. Many minor literary works praising Andal Nachiyar appeared in later periods. Among them, the Kothai Nachiyar Thalattu (lullaby) falls under the category of Pillaitamil (a genre of Tamil poetry). The Kothai Nachiyar Thalattu beautifully records the history of Andal Nachiyar, her appearance, the prosperity of the city of Thenpuduvai, and the love of Periyalvar. This article focuses on analyzing the description of the prosperity of the city of Thenpuduvai as depicted in this work.
