Special Relativity as Standing Preserving Kinematic Bookkeeping
Abstract
This paper characterizes special relativity as a kinematic bookkeeping structure required to preserve standing under admissible local interaction, rather than as an ontic account of spacetime or motion. The analysis is eliminative: it shows that once admissibility, standing conservation, and compositional consistency are enforced, relativistic kinematics emerge as the unique way to maintain invariant distinction across interacting frames without illicit scope transport. Relativistic quantities are treated as representational devices that encode permissible redescription between local perspectives. Attempts to treat kinematic structure as optional, extendable, or replaceable are shown to either collapse equivalence required for standing, introduce global coordination constraints, or duplicate enforcement across descriptive layers. The paper introduces no primitives, mechanisms, or dynamical postulates. Its contribution is boundary-setting: it clarifies why special relativity functions as standing-preserving kinematic bookkeeping within admissible interiors, and why departures from this role are structurally inadmissible rather than empirically unresolved.
