D2BIA_discrete Models 1 and 2 - zero-cost calculation of global aromaticity index for linear acenes
Abstract
D2BIA_discrete (models 1 and 2) is a zero-cost method to obtain global aromaticity of linear acenes. It has excellent R2 (above 0.95) with FLU, PDI and HOMA aromaticity indices concerning global aromaticity for the group of 1-acene (benzene) to 10-acene (decacene). However, for local aromaticity, ring by ring analysis, Model 2 coefficient of correlation with HOMA, FLU and NICS are poor, having only a good result (R2 above 0.80) for PDI. Then, Models 1 and 2 of D2BIA_discrete can be successfully used for global aromaticity of linear acenes, but are not reliable for local aromaticity of the same group. The Python code is a standalone program that calculates the D2BIA_discrete of Models 1 and 2, ring by ring, for 1-acene to 11-acene and compares them with HOMA, NICS(1)zz, FLU and PDI. They generate two .xlsx files with these results. In order to calculate the global aromaticity of a given acene, one has to average the values of the correspoding local aromaticities.
