Project T Volume XXXIV : The Renormalization Crystal Schur Complement, Palindromic Preservation, and Asymptotic Freedom in the Symmetric Group Chain
Abstract
We compute the Schur complement of the S5 Cayley graph Laplacian with respect to the canonical subgroup S4, thereby integrating out the temporal degrees of freedom associated with the generator σ4. The resulting effective Laplacian Leff = LAA − LABLBB⁻¹LBA preserves the palindromic degeneracy pattern [1, 3, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 2, 3, 1] exactly. The ratio μ/λ between effective and spatial eigenvalues decreases monotonically from 1.71 in the infrared to 1.14 in the ultraviolet, exhibiting asymptotic freedom: the effective theory becomes free at high energy. These properties are universal, holding also for the S3 → S4 Schur complement, and are preserved across all regularization scales. This completes the spectral trilogy (Volumes XXXII–XXXIV) demonstrating that mass generation, golden-ratio mixing, and renormalization structure all emerge from the symmetric group chain with zero free parameters.
