Abstract

Culture is the fundamental force that integrates and shapes all aspects of human life. It can be said that culture originated from the time when humans, transitioning from merely surviving in the natural environment, developed an organized way of life within a social structure. The word "culture" has a broader meaning, encompassing not only physical development but also the intellectual, mental, and social development of humankind. This word, called CULTURE in English, is believed to have originated from the Latin word COLERE. COLERE means to cultivate, to nurture, and to refine. Based on this, culture can be defined as the continuous process of development of the human mind and society. Culture is not static; it is dynamic and constantly changes according to time, circumstances, and social transformations. Even within the same society, customs, beliefs, and ways of life change over time. However, culture does not completely disappear; instead, it adopts new forms and continues to evolve. This study serves as an important research tool to understand society and protect its identity.
