Abstract

MEIsimulator is a bioinformatic tool designed to generate sequencing data from synthetic genomes that incorporate a wide range of randomly integrated retrotransposition events. Briefly, the algorithm starts by seeding retrotransposon sequences at predetermined positions within a reference genome to generate a custom mock genome; and subsequently employs ART or PBSIM to generate, respectively, Illumina short-reads or ONT long-reads on the new genome configuration.
