Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper introduces a novel conceptual framework for understanding materials science through the Connectivity Principle. Unlike traditional approaches that treat mechanical, chemical, electrical, thermal, and optical properties independently, this work proposes that all material properties are inherently interconnected through fundamental physical and chemical relationships. The novelty of this proposal lies not in experimental discovery but in conceptual synthesis and methodological democratization. The framework demonstrates how inexpensive, widely accessible instruments—such as multimeters, pH meters, digital scales, and basic optical tools—can be used to infer complex material behavior through systematic cross‑property observation. Illustrative examples, grounded in established scientific knowledge, show how chemical activity influences electrical conductivity, how atomic bonding strength links mechanical hardness and corrosion resistance, and how dissolution behavior reveals structural characteristics. The framework offers a unified way to reason about materials using accessible tools, making materials science more approachable for education, citizen science, and low‑resource environments.
