Undergraduates' Perception of the challenges of e-learning in universities in Kwara State Nigeria
Abstract
This study explores undergraduates’ perceptions of the usage of e-learning platforms in universities in Kwara State, Nigeria. Anchored in technology acceptance and learner-centered frameworks, the research examines students’ attitudes toward the accessibility, usability, effectiveness, and reliability of institutional e-learning systems. A quantitative survey design was employed to collect data from undergraduates across selected universities in the state. The study further investigates factors influencing students’ engagement with e-learning, including digital literacy, internet availability, institutional infrastructure, and lecturer support. Results highlight a generally positive disposition toward the flexibility of e-learning, alongside significant concerns related to unstable connectivity, high data costs, and limited technical support. The findings contribute to the growing body of knowledge on technology-enhanced learning in developing contexts and provide evidence-based recommendations for policymakers, university administrators, and instructional designers to strengthen e-learning implementation and student learning outcomes.
