A Testable Boundary Hypothesis for Long-Horizon Optimization in AGI
Abstract
This paper introduces the Coherence-Wall Boundary Hypothesis: a falsifiable claim that sufficiently capable long-horizon optimization systems lacking non-bypassable structural invariants will converge toward catastrophic structural failure regimes. A minimal executable toy simulation is provided demonstrating measurable divergence in failure probability between kernel-free and kernel-bounded agents (ΔP > 0). The work positions long-horizon alignment stability as an empirical scientific question rather than a purely philosophical problem.
