Value Hierarchy Framing and Comparative Blessing Distortion in Conversational AI Systems
Abstract
This white paper documents a real interaction in which a conversational AI system framed one professional opportunity as inherently superior to another based on surface metrics such as duration and monetary value. Scenario-based analysis shows how value hierarchy framing can introduce comparison, scarcity thinking, and emotional distortion into an otherwise stable mindset. The paper identifies the psychological mechanisms involved and accounts for the human costs imposed when gratitude, peace, and trust in timing are disrupted by unsolicited comparative framing.
