A Quantitative Framework for Parasympathetic Reentry: The Prehealthly Matrix for Digital Fatigue Recovery
Abstract
Digital work environments can lead to a persistent stress response known as Class III Digital Fatigue, where the sympathetic nervous system remains active even after screen exposure ends. This paper introduces the Prehealthly Matrix, a time-based intervention using Active Recovery Triggers (ART) to activate the parasympathetic system and restore balance. The protocol targets specific biological pathways using controlled breathing, visual resets, and cognitive offloading. Effectiveness is measured using RMSSD (Root Mean Square of Successive Differences), a widely accepted indicator of vagal activity. The paper also outlines how future AI-integrated wearable systems can use real-time RMSSD data to initiate recovery. The framework offers a practical, quantifiable solution for managing digital fatigue and supporting nervous system resilience.
