The Centered Integration Model: A Geometric and Neurophysiological Framework for Coherent Perception and Nervous System Regulation
Abstract
This paper presents a coherence-based framework for understanding perception, self-regulation, and awareness through a unified geometric and neurophysiological model. The framework describes perception as a dynamic system structured by three interacting domains represented as concentric or intersecting rings: sympathetic activation, parasympathetic regulation, and a central integrative field. Rather than treating these domains as oppositional or sequential, the model emphasizes their simultaneous presence and functional integration through a stable central boundary. This approach aligns known mechanisms of nervous system regulation with geometric principles of symmetry, rotation, and boundary conditions, offering a descriptive lens for understanding calm awareness, behavioral coherence, and adaptive response without reliance on effortful control or suppression. The model is presented as an observational mapping rather than a prescriptive or comparative theory.
