F2 Metaphors as Structure Inducing Operators
Abstract
This paper analyzes metaphors as structure-inducing operators within admissible description rather than as explanatory shortcuts or heuristic aids. It shows that metaphors impose implicit constraint structure on representation and that their legitimacy depends on whether this induced structure preserves standing. By exhaustion, metaphors that smuggle illicit primitives, causal surplus, or hidden degrees of freedom are shown to violate admissibility and fail closed. The treatment is declarative and non-procedural, placing on record how metaphor functions as a structural operator without offering guidance on metaphor selection, deployment, or optimization.
