Abstract

According to WHO (2012) Early Childhood Development (ECD) – which includessensorimotor, social, emotional, language, and cognitive capacities – is inextricablylinked to child survival, health, and schooling, and is a critical stage in breakingimpoverished intergenerational cycles and supporting long-term development. Earlydevelopment sets the crucial foundations for health, learning, and behaviour throughoutone's life. But poor growth and development during childhood is widespread andcommon.Further, WHO says that over 200 million children worldwide do not fulfil theirdevelopmental potential during their first five years due to poverty, inadequate health, nutrition, and psychosocial care. As a result of their poor academic performance, thesedisadvantaged youngsters have low salaries, high fertility, high delinquency, and offerpoor care for their own children. As a result, their countries' adult output is expected todrop by 20% (McGregor et al., 2007). Early childhood programmes and interventionsare critical because they can give children a "fair start" and help to alleviate disturbingsocio-economic and gender-related disparities. Evidences show that interventions canreduce the burden of poor child development and address the causal factors affectingthe children
