Abstract

This paper establishes that model-theoretic existence—the claim that consistency, satisfiability, or the availability of a model suffices to license existence—is inadmissible as a foundational operator. The mere fact that a structure can be modeled is shown to carry no standing unless its use is explicitly licensed within an admissible evaluative regime. The argument proceeds by exhaustion of standard model-theoretic moves: existence theorems, compactness-based constructions, ultraproducts, Henkin completions, and semantic ascent from syntax to models. In each case, “existence” is obtained only by importing illicit assumptions—global domains, totality of interpretation, or meta-level selection principles—that violate admissibility or silently transport scope across the boundary of evaluation. Model-theoretic existence is therefore revealed not as a neutral semantic notion, but as a powerful and often hidden operator that manufactures standing without authorization. Once this operator is removed, no appeal to “there exists a model such that…” can serve as a foundational justification for mathematical, logical, or physical claims. The result is negative and non-constructive. The paper does not reject model theory as a tool, nor does it propose alternative semantic frameworks. Instead, it sharply delimits the role model-theoretic reasoning can play: models may be used as internal bookkeeping devices, but not as sources of ontic or foundational legitimacy. This impossibility result closes a major loophole in contemporary foundational practice and forms a key component of a broader closure program that replaces existence-by-model with admissibility-by-standing.
