Family 3 Witnesses
Abstract
Reference Fixation, Confirmation Failure, and Exhaustion Results This collection contains the Family III Witness papers of the Maley Corpus. These works establish, by exhaustion, the necessary conditions under which confirmation, explanation, inference, and epistemic success are even well-defined. The core result demonstrated across these papers is that confirmation without reference fixation is undefined. Systems that lack standing-preserving reference cannot internally justify truth, evidence, prediction, intelligence, or success—no matter how performant, coherent, or empirically aligned they appear. The papers provide negative witnesses: concrete, domain-spanning demonstrations that popular epistemic strategies fail once reference, standing, or admissibility is removed. The family spans physics, statistics, artificial intelligence, cognition, and philosophy of science, showing that failures of confirmation are structural, not empirical or technological. These are not proposals, models, or constructions. They are impossibility results, establishing that no admissible alternative remains once reference fixation is violated. This release places the closure of confirmation, explanation, and epistemic self-sufficiency into the public record. The claims are brittle, auditable in principle, and binary: either reference is fixed and standing preserved, or confirmation collapses. No procedural or operational systems are disclosed. Keywords: reference fixation, confirmation, admissibility, standing, impossibility results, epistemic closure, foundations of science
