Master class in logistics, or how to deliver a complex renovation project without delays
Abstract
In renovation projects, delays are most often explained by the “human factor”: a shortage of workers, slow work by crews, or the need to “speed up completion.” In practice, however, most delays occur much earlier—at the stage of planning and managing the supply of materials. This case study describes the approach to logistics in renovation projects at Quality House LLC (USA), where deadlines are met not by increasing the pace of work, but by controlling the supply chain and strictly linking the installation stages to confirmed delivery dates. The focus is on managing the ETA of critical items, working with long-lead materials, and prohibiting the start of stages without full logistics readiness. The purpose of this case study is to demonstrate how structured supply chain management can stabilize work schedules, minimize downtime, and complete complex projects without cascading delays.
