Geometric Origin of the Muon g−2 Anomaly
Abstract
We investigate a geometric interpretation of the effective dipole operator responsible for the muon anomalous magnetic moment within the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). The construction yields the dimension-six gauge-invariant dipole operator after dimensional reduction, with a coefficient consistent with the magnitude required to reproduce the observed deviation: This corresponds to a characteristic scale in the multi-TeV regime. The same operator contributes to high-invariant-mass Drell–Yan dilepton production at the LHC through interference with the Standard Model amplitude. Owing to the chirality-flipping structure of the dipole interaction, the resulting effect is a small, smooth, non-resonant deviation that grows with energy but remains highly suppressed 𝑂 ( in the TeV range. We discuss the compatibility of this scenario with existing collider, electroweak, and flavor constraints, and outline how the dipole interaction can arise from geometric spin-connection couplings in an extended spacetime framework. The framework provides a unified geometric origin linking low-energy dipole observables and high-energy precision measurements.
