Vitamins In Oral Health & Diseases
Abstract
The word vitamin comes from the latin word 'vita', means life and amine means containing “amine nitrogen”. It was later found that only few were amines. So, the finalletter “e” was dropped. Previously the term “accessory factors” was used to the essential nutrients present in the natural food. They are not synthesised by humans at all, or in sufficient quantity for metabolic needs. Vitamins are found in very small amounts in many different foods.
