ANALISIS EFEKTIVITAS BIAYA TERAPI ANTIBIOTIK CEFTRIAXONE DAN CEFOTAXIM PADAPASIEN PEDIATRIK YANG MENGALAMI DIARE AKUT DI RSUD KARAWANG
Abstract
The management of diarrhea primarily involves rehydration therapy; however, approximately 10–20% of diarrheal diseases are caused by infections and therefore require antibiotic therapy. This study aimed to describe the cost of treatment therapy and to analyze the most cost-effective antibiotic option between ceftriaxone and cefotaxime in patients with diarrhea at RSUD Karawang during the 2022 period. This study employed a descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling was conducted retrospectively by reviewing patients’ medical records and financial data. The study population consisted of 71 pediatric patients with acute diarrhea, and sample size calculation using the Slovin formula resulted in 60 patients who met the inclusion criteria. The inclusion criteria were pediatric patients aged 0–12 years diagnosed with acute diarrhea, receiving single therapy with either ceftriaxone or cefotaxime, and having complete medical records at RSUD Karawang during 2022. The collected data were analyzed using the Average Cost-Effectiveness Ratio (ACER) and Incremental Cost-Effectiveness Ratio (ICER). The results showed differences in treatment costs among pediatric patients with acute diarrhea at RSUD Karawang, where the direct medical cost of cefotaxime therapy was higher than that of ceftriaxone. The ACER value for ceftriaxone was IDR 3.701.304,- while the ACER value for cefotaxime was IDR 4.775.399,- with an ICER value of IDR 1.757.941,-
