Learning, work, and decision-makingare precisely where AI is introducedas a “supportive” presence. Ironically, the moment AI appears to succeedis often when initiative begins to disappear. In education,AI that explains clearly and answers quickly is praised.Yet the faster answers arrive, the shorter thinking time becomes. In organizations,AI that supports judgment and produces optimal solutions is welcomed.Yet when such solutions become routine, responsibility grows ambiguous. In practice,AI that prevents hesitation and failure is desired.Yet as a result, experience is no longer accumulated. These problems do not arise because AI is too intelligent. They arise because initiative is poorly handled. The YS (Yielding Steering) Behavior-Oriented Algorithmclarifies the role of AI across these domains. It does not become a teaching authority It does not make judgments It does not represent the field Instead, it acts as an AIthat preserves space for human thinking. At times,it stops explanations midway. It refrains from presenting conclusions. It returns questions instead. This may appear unhelpful.Yet to protect initiative, designing for silence becomes essential. The User AI DJ System allows usersto adjust even the degree of this silence. Today, I want to be taught.Today, I want to think together.Today, I only want hints. These choices belong to the human, not the AI. Education is not the delivery of answers.Organizations are not places to outsource judgment.Practice is not a space that eliminates failure. Designing for preserved initiativemeans protecting the time and spacein which humans can grow, think, and take responsibility.
