Leech Lattice-Periodic Table Correspondence Conjecture (LCP)
Abstract
This work proposes a novel correspondence between the 24-dimensional Leech lattice (a highly symmetric mathematical structure) and the empirical structure of the chemical periodic table. We present the LCP Conjecture, which posits that the kissing number of the Leech lattice, K24=196560K24=196560, constrains the maximum electron capacities of atomic orbital shells. This leads to the key prediction that the periodic table terminates at atomic number Z = 138, with no stable elements in the 9th period due to the absence of stable h-orbital (l=5) shells. The conjecture makes several testable predictions for the synthesis and properties of superheavy elements in the 8th period, including the predicted stability island centered at Z=126. A speculative connection to the Monster group is also discussed, suggesting a possible mathematical "phase transition" upon completion of the known periodic table. This is a preprint presenting a theoretical hypothesis intended to stimulate discussion and experimental verification. All feedback from the physics, chemistry, and mathematics communities is welcome.
