Phytochemicals Of Remedy Terminalia Arjuna - A Review
Abstract
Terminalia arjuna (T. arjuna) is a medicinal plant extensively utilized in Homeopathy and Ayurveda for itscardioprotective, “anti-inflammatory, and wound-healing properties.” This study examines its conventional andhomeopathic uses, emphasizing its function in the management of cardiovascular conditions includinghypertension, angina, and heart failure. The bioactive constituents of T. arjuna, comprising flavonoids, glycosides, tannins, and triterpenoids, facilitate its pharmacological actions, including blood pressure regulation, oxidativestress reduction, and cardiac function enhancement. Numerous studies have demonstrated its effectiveness inenhancing cardiovascular health with few adverse effects, positioning it as a viable alternative to traditionalmedicines. Furthermore, its antibacterial and antioxidant characteristics enhance its extensive medical uses.Nonetheless, despite encouraging outcomes, discrepancies in research methodology, a scarcity of clinical studies, and an absence of uniformity in homeopathic formulations require more scientific validation. Futureinvestigations should prioritize extensive, multi-center clinical studies, the identification of activephytoconstituents, and the exploration of molecular pathways to enhance its therapeutic efficacy. This analysisunderscores the necessity of incorporating T. arjuna into evidence-based homeopathic therapy while guaranteeingits safety and efficacy via thorough scientific research.
