A Scalable Two-Contour Model for Controlled Deployment of Sensing Grids in Field Measurements
Abstract
This work presents a scalable engineering framework for deploying sensing grids in field conditions where environmental control, repeatability, and access dominate over absolute instrument sensitivity. The model separates the process into two independent contours: a deployment and synchronization contour, and a quiet measurement contour. Mobile platforms are used exclusively for spatial configuration and geometry validation and are silenced prior to measurement. Site selection, timing, weather conditions, and grid geometry are treated as active parameters of a controlled environment rather than external constraints. The framework enables rapid, low-cost pre-validation of measurement hypotheses, efficient rejection of local and environmental artifacts, and informed escalation to high-cost or centralized instruments. The approach is domain-agnostic and applicable to radio astronomy, RF environment analysis, and other distributed sensing problems where early-stage decision quality is critical.
