Abstract

ABSTRACT This study examines Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) in green building projects, focusing on sustainable material selection, waste reduction, and eco-friendly procurement practices. A certified green building project complying with LEED/IGBC standards is analysed as a case study to understand how supply chain decisions affect environmental performance and project costs. The research applies Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to evaluate embodied carbon emissions, Life Cycle Costing (LCC) to assess long-term economic impacts, Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) to optimize inventory management of eco-materials, and a multi-criteria vendor evaluation matrix to assess suppliers. The findings show that sustainable materials such as fly-ash blended cement, recycled steel, and low-emissivity glass significantly reduce embodied carbon compared to conventional alternatives. However, some materials involve higher initial costs, indicating a trade-off between short-term expenditure and long-term environmental benefits. The case study also demonstrates that applying EOQ and Just-in-Time (JIT) delivery strategies helps reduce material waste and inventory-related emissions.
