ELECTRICAL STIMULATION THERAPY
Abstract
Electrotherapy is a therapeutic technique that employs electrical stimulation to modulate physiological processes for clinical benefit. It is widely used in pain management, physical rehabilitation, and neurological recovery. Advances in biomedical technology have expanded the range of electrotherapy modalities, improving their effectiveness and accessibility. This article reviews the physiological mechanisms underlying electrotherapy, its major types, and key clinical applications. Particular attention is given to its advantages, limitations, and current research trends. The findings suggest that electrotherapy is a valuable non-invasive treatment option when applied using evidence-based protocols and individualized patient assessment.
