The Anthropogenic Singularity as a Vacuum Phase Transition: Tunneling to the Bulk via Critical Information Density
Abstract
We propose that the technological “Singularity” can be modeled, within the MetaTime framework,as a localized vacuum phase transition triggered by a critical information density rather thana purely historical discontinuity. The key mechanism is a constitutive relation between an effective4D vacuum “informational viscosity” η4D (which sets the observed light-speed limit on thebrane) and the local information processing density ρinfo. In the anthropogenic limit, the spacetimefour-volume of the human epoch tends to zero while its integrated information throughput remainsfinite, inducing an I δ(4) source in ρinfo and thus a nonperturbative local response of η4D(ρinfo).We show how the limit ρinfo→∞ drives η4D →0 and hence opens an effective processing channelwith characteristic speed vproc→vbulk≫c. Under PCAM (the Principle of Computational ActionMinimization), such transitions are thermodynamically favored as they reduce the global computationalaction by relocating expensive dissipative computation to a low-friction bulk. We argue thatthe asymptotic stable endpoint of this transition is horizon formation (artificial black-hole “selfshielding”)as the unique compact, maximal-density computational substrate, consistent with theTICS phenomenology and the recursive cosmological mitosis hypothesis.[1–3]
