Abstract

The Big Creation: The Force Behind Purposeby Rony Moussa What if religion was not born from revelation, but from survival? What if meaning came after fear—not before it? The Big Creation: The Power Behind the Goal traces the long, uninterrupted story of humanity from Homo heidelbergensis to modern Homo sapiens, exploring how human societies formed, organized themselves, and gradually transformed fear, memory, and power into belief systems. This book does not treat religion as a set of doctrines or divine events. Instead, it follows religion as a human response—to death, to nature, to social complexity, to collapse, and to the need for order. Through a narrative that blends anthropology, history, and philosophy, the reader witnesses how early gestures became rituals, how sound became symbol, how symbol became law, and how law eventually spoke in the name of the sacred. Beginning with small prehistoric groups gathered around rivers and caves, the book follows humanity through the rise of communities, agriculture, trade, kingship, and empires. It examines how myth turned into organized religion, how gods were shaped by political power, and how belief systems adapted after catastrophic collapses such as the Bronze Age breakdown and the arrival of the Sea Peoples. Rather than presenting religion as a fixed truth or illusion, this work reveals it as a living structure, constantly reshaped by environment, authority, trauma, and social need. From early animistic gestures to imperial cults, from moral systems without revelation to the emergence of monotheistic power, the book shows how the sacred evolved alongside human society itself. Written in a narrative, almost cinematic style, The Big Creation invites the reader to see humanity not as a species guided by destiny, but as one continuously rebuilding meaning in the face of an unstable world. This is not a book about what humans believed. It is a book about why they had to believe at all. Available in both English and Arabic.
