INTEGRATION OF THE STEAM APPROACH INTO THE PRESCHOOL EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT
Abstract
This article explores the integration of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) approach into preschool educational environments and examines its impact on holistic child development. Using qualitative research methods—including classroom observations, teacher interviews, and analysis of preschool activity plans—the study identifies how interdisciplinary, play‑based, and inquiry‑driven STEAM activities enhance cognitive, social‑emotional, creative, and problem‑solving skills in children aged 4–6. Findings show that STEAM promotes higher engagement, curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking compared to traditional lessons. The article also highlights challenges such as limited resources and insufficient teacher training, offering practical solutions for effective implementation. Overall, the study demonstrates that STEAM is a powerful pedagogical model that prepares children for 21st‑century skills and strengthens the quality of early childhood education.
