Abstract

Sound has long been known to influence human cognition, emotion, and physiology. In recent decades, neuroscience has begun to formally investigate how auditory stimulation at specific frequencies can modulate neural oscillations, attention, memory, and affective state through a process known as neural entrainment. This paper presents a strictly scientific, non-speculative review of how sound frequency can be used to modulate (not “hack” or permanently unlock) mental states. It synthesizes evidence from electroencephalography (EEG), cognitive neuroscience, music therapy, and clinical neurology to outline (a) which frequency bands have empirical support, (b) how long and how often auditory stimulation has been safely applied in studies, (c) what measurable effects have been observed, and (d) the advantages, limitations, and ethical considerations of this approach. The paper deliberately avoids fantasy claims, metaphysical assertions, or prescriptive medical advice, framing sound-based modulation as a research-bounded cognitive tool, not a cure or awakening mechanism.
