Abstract

The Unified Innovation Ecosystem Meta-Model is a meta-analytical construct developed within the DRONEDOME Center to examine temporal and structural dynamics inside complex innovation ecosystems. It uses the MIT Innovation Ecosystem Framework as a macro-structural reference layer and combines it with the DRONEDOME Applied Analytical Framework, which operates as a temporal-process analysis layer. The model extends the analytical resolution of the MIT framework inter-actor pathways. Instead, it functions as an analytical overlay, enabling examination of how institutional arrangements, validation logics, regulatory thresholds, and coordination structures interact over time. Its central analytical focus is not innovation output itself, but the systemic lag that emerges between technological capability formation and institutional capacity to absorb, validate, and operationalize those capabilities. Formally, systemic lag is modeled as a function of: Institutional Layering (IL) — the degree of multi-level governance complexity and role distribution; Validation Logic (VL) — the structure and sequencing of legitimacy and evidence-confirmation mechanisms; Regulatory Thresholds (RT) — formal and informal constraints shaping admissibility and deployment; Coordination Load (CL) — the transactional and procedural burden across actors. This approach allows the model to identify structural phenomena such as scale saturation, tempo friction, and domain misalignment as emergent system properties rather than operational failures. The model is therefore diagnostic rather than prescriptive: it does not propose institutional redesign but provides a structured method for analyzing where and why temporal misalignment occurs in innovation ecosystems. Conceptually, the contribution of the meta-model lies in introducing a temporal systems dimension to innovation ecosystem analysis, bridging innovation studies, institutional theory, and complex systems research. It shifts the analytical lens from static ecosystem components toward process latency, validation sequencing, and governance-embedded time structures. The analytical frameworks described in this document, including the DRONEDOME Applied Analytical Framework and the Unified Innovation Ecosystem Meta-Model, constitute pre-existing research developed within DRONEDOME Center prior to any collaboration or institutional engagement described herein. Their inclusion in academic, research, or collaborative contexts does not imply transfer of intellectual property or institutional ownership. Attribution of individual scholarly contribution may be made in academic settings, while institutional intellectual property remains with institutional intellectual property held by DRONEDOME as the originating research entity and individual scholarly contributions attributed to Oleh Deineka, Volodymyr Khomenko, and Sergiy Skidanov.
