Abstract

Automated software testing has become a crucial component of modern software development due to the rapid increase in software complexity and frequent updates. Manual testing alone is no longer sufficient to ensure software quality within limited timeframes. Automated testing helps reduce human effort, improve accuracy, and increase test coverage. This review paper presents a detailed study of various automated software testing techniques and widely used automation tools. Different testing approaches such as unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, functional testing, and smoke testing are discussed. In addition, popular automation tools including Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Appium, and Unified Functional Testing (UFT) are reviewed. The paper also highlights the advantages, challenges, and limitations of automated testing. This study aims to help students, researchers, and software professionals understand automated testing concepts and select suitable tools for effective software testing.
