Abstract
Annotation. This article substantiates the possibility of adapting the gravity model ofeconomic analysis to the study of the virtual assets market within the system of state economicsecurity. The research systematises the theoretical and methodological foundations of the gravityapproach and identifies its key elements, including economic size, distance, multilateralresistance, border effects, price indices, information asymmetry, and dynamic adjustment. These elements are interpreted in accordance with the institutional, regulatory, and structuralspecificities of the functioning of the virtual assets market. The analysis demonstrates that the gravity model retains its explanatory capacity underconditions of financial digitalisation, while its core parameters acquire new economic contentrelated to capitalisation, liquidity, network activity, regulatory regimes, and informationtransparency in the virtual assets ecosystem. Particular attention is given to the transformationof traditional geographic distance into regulatory and institutional distance, which significantlyinfluences the direction and intensity of cross-border flows of virtual assets. It is shown thatconcentration effects, asymmetric market participation, and high sensitivity to external shockscontribute to the formation of systemic risks relevant to economic security. The proposed analytical framework enables a comprehensive assessment of virtual assetflows by combining macroeconomic, institutional, and structural dimensions within a unifiedmethodological space. The findings confirm the feasibility of using the gravity logic as a basis forfurther empirical modelling and risk assessment related to financial digitalisation, with specialemphasis on data reliability, information verification, and the role of audit in ensuring therobustness of analytical results. Keywords: virtual assets, economic security, audit, analytical procedures, risk, digitalisation.
