Evaluating Soft Tissue Collections with Ultrasound
Abstract
Ultrasonography (US) is an extremely important imaging modality for the visualization of soft tissues. Its ability to provide real-time images without the use of penetrating or ionizing methods is essential for rapid clinical assessment and examination safety. Visualization of anatomical structures and knowledge related to them are fundamental for appropriate therapeutic decision-making. Currently, POCUS has emerged as a tool that extends the physical examination, being useful for rapid and accurate diagnosis in evaluations performed by general surgeons [1].Therefore, to achieve the expected results, ultrasonographic technique and observation must be combined with theoretical knowledge in order to provide the best possible outcome for the patient.
