In AI-mediated systems,it quietly becomes displacement. Tasks move first. Then judgments. Then responsibility. At some point, humans no longer rememberwhat was theirs to decide. This is the critical threshold. In stories symbolized by Astro Boy,humans never delegated morality. They delegated strength. They delegated calculation. But meaning remained human territory. Modern AI systems blur this boundary. Recommendations become defaults.Predictions become prescriptions.Automation becomes expectation. Reclaiming agency does not mean rejecting AI. It means clearly markingwhat must never be outsourced: Value judgments Ethical trade-offs Accountability for outcomes The right to say “no” These are not inefficiencies. They are load-bearing structures. When humans abdicate these layers,AI does not become dangerous. Society becomes hollow. The next phase, therefore,is not smarter models, but sharper boundaries. Delegation must be deliberate, reversible, and understandable. Otherwise, humans will not noticewhen they have already stepped aside. Disclaimer This section does not argue against automation or AI assistance. It examines the boundary between delegation and abdication, and the human responsibilities that must remain non-transferable.
