LEGAL AID IN INDIA – A MERE RULE OR A POOR'S BOON?
Abstract
Our constitution, under Article 39-A, gives every citizen the right to legal aid, enabling everyone to reach courts. This also supports Articles 14, 21 and 22, making it constitutionally and jurisprudentially strong. However, the idea written on paper can be quite different from actual working. Hence, this paper aims at evaluating whether legal aid in India is a boon or bane.
