EROD Tuner
Abstract
EROD Tuner is a preprocessing utility that enables flexible modification of the soil erodibility factor (EROD) in geo_em.d0N.nc files used by the WRF Preprocessing System (WPS). The tool implements a set of physically motivated transformation functions that allow users to enhance, suppress, or recalibrate erodibility fields on a domain-by-domain basis, supporting sensitivity studies and regional tuning of dust emission potential. Designed for simplicity and rapid application, it uses a customizable namelist configuration and a single executable Python script, facilitating improved representation of dust sources in WRF-Chem and other atmospheric modeling applications. The package (convert_erod.zip) includes: The main Python script convert_erod.py The namelist.erod configuration file for domain-specific transformations A geo_example folder with example geo_em files for testing A README.txt file with usage instructions and tool description
