Abstract

END_MAC is a reproducible R workflow for modelling current and future environmental suitability of insular marine fishes under climate change. The pipeline integrates species distribution models (MaxEnt, Random Forest and XGBoost) with a physical habitat analogue framework to explicitly decouple structural habitat availability from climatic suitability. Developed for Cabo Verde endemic coastal fishes across the Macaronesian archipelagos, the workflow is transferable to other insular systems and supports climate scenario projections (SSP245, SSP370, SSP585) with spatial cross-validation and ensemble outputs.
