A Pre-Registered Falsification Protocol for Mass-Dependent Gravitational Scaling in the Large Magellanic Cloud
Abstract
This record contains a pre-registered falsification protocol for a mass-dependent gravitational scaling hypothesis applied to the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). The framework makes three independent, quantitative predictions—covering outer-halo velocity dispersion, escape-velocity truncation, and tidal geometry—each with explicitly defined null expectations and kill criteria. All numerical predictions, selection functions, action-space cuts, and adjudication rules are fixed in advance of the Gaia DR4 and 4MOST DR1 data releases. The null hypothesis is defined as universal gravitational enhancement independent of host mass. Failure of any single test falsifies the mass-dependent scaling framework in favour of the null. This record is not a claim of discovery. It is a procedural commitment: a dated, public specification of how forthcoming observational data will be allowed to adjudicate the hypothesis without post-hoc adjustment or reinterpretation. Survival of all three tests confers predictive warrant only and motivates further testing at higher and lower mass scales.
