Abstract

The review will focus on the important issue of Nano carrier that is administered through the pulmonary route in treating respiratory system diseases, tuberculosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, and COVID-19; these have been the subject of concern because they are often highly morbid and fatal [1]. One of the weaknesses of conventional therapy is poor bioavailability, easy clearance, and limited deposition of drugs in deep lung areas. This review paper has explored the physiological conditions of the pulmonary disorders in detail, the major respiratory diseases and the recent developments of Nano carrier-based therapeutic platforms such as liposomes, solid lipid nanoparticles, nanostructured lipid carriers and polymeric Nano carriers in terms of improving therapeutic efficacy by overcoming these limitations [2]. Inhalable Nano medicine preparations increase the stability of drugs, mucosal permeability as well as cellular absorption and decrease systemic toxicity. Moreover, the article presents the main advances in designing Nano carriers to release drugs locally and their opportunities in the treatment of inflammatory, viral and neoplastic pulmonary diseases [3]. Lastly, the future outlook on Nano medicine of the lungs and smart inhalable systems are discussed on a personalized basis. All these observations highlight the disruptive nature of pulmonary therapeutics based on nanotechnology in the management of respiratory diseases [4].
