Abstract

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that connects EndNote reference libraries to Claude AI. Enables researchers to search references, read PDFs, format citations, export BibTeX, find related papers, and generate bibliographies directly within Claude Desktop conversations. Supports full-text search across PDF content, BM25-ranked metadata search, AI-powered semantic search using sentence-transformers embeddings, BibTeX export for LaTeX users, and five citation styles (APA 7th, Harvard, Vancouver, Chicago, IEEE).What's new in v1.4.5: Fixed missing numpy import in cosine_similarity() that caused NameError during semantic search queries (regression from v1.4.4 lazy-import refactor). What's new in v1.4.4: Fixed crash when running endnote-mcp embed without semantic extras installed. Now shows a friendly error message instead of a traceback. What's new in v1.4.3: Fixed PDF file cache to use case-insensitive matching, so files with uppercase .PDF extensions are now correctly indexed. Switched to Zenodo concept DOI for version-independent citation.
