What are the cellular and molecular mechanisms responsible for methylphenidate-induced cardiotoxicity?
Abstract
Methylphenidate-induced cardiotoxicity involves increased oxidative stress, catecholamine elevation, and impaired energy metabolism, leading to cardiomyocyte damage. Animal studies suggest potential protective effects of ATP and melatonin, but human data are needed.
