Physical Education and Sport as a System of Active Counteraction to Gravity: Biomechanical, Evolutionary, Medico-Physiological, and Philosophical-Scientific Aspects
Abstract
This article presents a unified scientific concept of physical education and sport as a system of active counteraction to Earth’s gravity. It interprets human motor activity as a structured process of performing mechanical work against gravitational force. The study integrates biomechanics, evolutionary anthropology, and space medicine into a single gravitational framework. A semi-quantitative Index of Anti-Gravitational Activity (IAA) is introduced to classify sports according to their gravitational orientation. Various sports disciplines are analyzed as distinct biomechanical strategies of interacting with gravity. The paper demonstrates that sport can be positioned along a gravitational continuum from unloading to maximal impulse overcoming of gravity. Parallels with microgravity research highlight the physiological necessity of anti-gravitational activity. Elite athletic performance is interpreted as the biological limit of anti-gravitational adaptation. The work combines theoretical modeling with measurable biomechanical parameters. Sport is ultimately conceptualized as a culturally structured system for managing gravitational loads.
