The Systems Reallocation Model of Hyperglycemia: Revisiting the Milieu Intérieur in Contemporary Metabolic Regulation
Abstract
This work presents a systems-level reinterpretation of hyperglycemia grounded in Claude Bernard’s concept of the milieu intérieur. It integrates peripheral tissue receptivity, neuro-endocrine governance, and hemodynamic modulation within a unified framework termed the Systems Reallocation Model. The model emphasizes adaptive versus maladaptive transitions in metabolic regulation and proposes that elevated circulating glucose reflects coordinated systemic redistribution rather than isolated pancreatic insufficiency.
