PLANT GENETIC RESOURCES AND ORGANIC AGRICULTURE FOR SUSTAINABILITY
Abstract
This volume presents a coherent collection of scholarly chapters that address critical issues at the intersection of agricultural sustainability, biological resource management, and applied innovation. The contributions reflect an integrated perspective that spans from genetic conservation and production systems to plant health and sustainable material development, highlighting agriculture's evolving role within broader environmental and industrial frameworks. The chapter reviewing the utilization of plant genetic resources offers an in-depth analysis of their significance for conservation and sustainable agriculture. It underscores the role of genetic diversity in strengthening crop resilience, supporting long-term productivity, and enabling adaptive responses to climate variability and emerging environmental challenges. A critical examination of organic agriculture follows, assessing its practical applicability across diverse agroecological, economic, and institutional contexts. This is complemented by a comprehensive treatment of soil and seedborne pathogens, which explores their biology and epidemiology while emphasizing integrated management strategies essential for sustainable crop protection and yield stability. The volume concludes with an exploration of polylactic acid composites enhanced through agricultural waste-derived fillers. By connecting agricultural by-products with advanced material science, this chapter highlights innovative pathways for waste valorization and circular economy approaches, reinforcing the contribution of agriculture to sustainable technological and industrial development.
